Collagen and hyaluronic acid are natural components of our skin which give it both volume and support. With time, these components diminish and our skin loses structure and volume resulting in sagging, wrinkled skin.
Juvederm Injectable Gel is hyaluronic acid and is used to restore the volume that has been lost over time.
Because hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, it dissolves naturally with time.
The treatment is performed by injecting the gel directly into the skin using an ultra-fine needle or cannula. Topical anesthetic cream can be used to eliminate any discomfort from the needle making treatments virtually painless.
As with any injection, temporary bruising or swelling can occur. Ice is often applied after treatment to prevent swelling.
Most patients are able to return to their daily activities following treatment.
The most common lines of the middle and lower face result from loss of volume. Various juvederm products are used to replace volume, restoring facial fullness in the following areas:
Voluma-cheeks, jawline and chin, hollowing under cheeks
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC-laugh lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (naso-labial folds) and extending down towards the chin (marionette lines).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q= Can I take aspirin or drink alcohol the day before my treatment?
A= To lessen the chance of bruising, ensure you should not take any ASA, blood thinning medications, including natural blood thinners, or drink alcohol the day before or day of treatment.
Q=How long will the treatment take?
A= Approximately 1 hour.
Q=Will I see the result immediately?
A= You will see the majority of the results immediately and will continue to get optimal results within 2 weeks as the filler is attracting water to the injected area.
Q= Can I go back to work same day?
A= You will be able to go back to work but being there is a small chance of bruising it is recommended to do at the end of your work day , or on your day off.
Q= How long will the products last?
A= Juvederm ultra plus XC products last s from 9 months to 1 year.
Voluma products last up to 2 years.
Q= What are my post treatment instructions?
A= No massaging the area treated ,no strenuous activity for 24 hours post treatment, no hot showers or saunas for 2 weeks post treatment, no exposure extreme temperature changes such as sun, wind and cold for 2 weeks post treatment.
